When driving in America, in certain parts of the country, you need to watch for deer. Is it the same in Australia?

I think I am planning on studying abroad in Melbourne, Australia. If that is the case, where would I travel to and what would I do in my spare time. Are there a lot of sights to see in Australia? My other study abroad option is somewhere in Europe where I know I could travel to a lot of European cities, but I would rather go to Australia so I was wondering if anyone knew what there is to do and see.

I’m looking to go away for a few weeks (maybe even a month) to Australia but I don’t have the faintest clue where abouts i should go.
