I have a question for people that have been to Australia or live in Australia. Is is true that in Australia it is common to see kangaroos in your yard?

Yes maybe if you live in the outback. However; my mum lives in a town north west victoria which is about 50,000 people and one day there was a kangaroo in the street but that is rare.
With more than 80% of Australians living in cities, finding one in your backyard would be a very rare event indeed. Most Australians would only see Kangaroos in Zoos, or on the highways when travelling through outback rural areas. Its about as common as Americans sighting a Coyote in their backyards.
That being said, One day I was cycling to work when I was passed going up the street by an overtaking Kangaroo. It was large enough that had I reached out sideways on my road bike I would be level with its back. Our paths went in parallel for at least a couple of minutes before it went on its way. I am told there are Kangaroo colonies in the valleys of both of the National parks that surround where I live in northern Sydney. However that was the only encounter of meeting one in the wild in 12 years of living here.
In rural areas, yes it might be quite common. I live in WA which is obviously vastly different to living in metro NSW.
Think New York city v Oklahoma or Colorado.
Do you see the same things there?
I live 14km from the Brisbane CBD and we have them in our backyard, but the vast majority of people living in or near a large city would never see one in the wild.
Yeah and they grow to ten feet tall and have razor sharp fangs. If your not carful, a killer kangaroo will bite your arms off and steal your wallet before you even know whats going on…Sly buggers…
It depends on where you live as to what you see in your backyard. That is like saying “All Americans have bears in their yards”. Some parts of Australia you can see kangaroos, others you won’t. There are people in Australia who have never seen a kangaroo unless it has been in a zoo.
I live in adelaide, SA
and if there was a random kangarroo in my backyard, or anyone elses for that matter,
we would shoot it with a tranquilizer gun or something. lol it just doesnt happen unless you live in the outback.
well
overseas especially america think that you see them everywhere
and that you practically ride them to school/work which is no where near true lol.
they are not in the city or central part of the states
they are in the outer parts in the country towns
No, the majority of australians do not see kangaroos in their backyard I havent neither has anyone I’ve known. I have seen kangaroos though but generally in national parks. Of course it is possible and more likely in some areas but know it isn’t common!
i live in Sydney 20 minutes away from the city center ( on the bush though) and i see wallabies which are like a smaller kangaroo they look like this>http://photobucket.com/image/wallabies/dmgates/DSC03807.jpg?o=30 and
you never see koalas anywhere in Sydney though hope that helps .. and i can see every ones every-ones sarcasms but i think he knows you aren’t going to see kangaroos jumping across the harbor bridge but where i live now and my old house both had wallabies in my backyard and i don’t live in a rural area i live in Sydney NSW
Hey, I live in Australia. I live in a pretty urban town, but we have countryside around us. The kangaroos near us are all grey-coloured. You sometimes see them dead on the road, or hopping around in the trees or whatever, but you don’t go near them. They are diseased (some of them) and dangerous. If you go too close, they could rip out your guts with their claws! But to answer the question, yes it is common to see kangaroos. I have only actually seen them in my yard once though.
yeah, you do see them. But it does depend where you live really. I mean you wouldn’t see them in a block of apartments.
Hope that helped.
I have loads of friends there and I heard you can but in some parts. Not in the major cities I dont think. Hope this helped.

No that is bull crap!!

yep roo’s in the front yard
koalas in the back yard

is it true that in the USA you find grissly bears in your yards?
It depends where “your yard” is.
Generally not common in urban areas especially as the Defence Department in Canberra is exterminating some

I get them in my yard, but I am in a rural area. The suburbs and cities don’t have them except very occasionally in the suburbs.
dude wen i drive to work n stuff they just stand in the middle of the road and stare at your car… like they say “cmon you wont hit me, you pussy”.
