I am a temporary resident of Australia and want to get pregnant. How will my visa be affected?

australia
Janeymac asked:

My partner and I are on a skilled Australian sponsored visa sub class 495 and have been living in Adelaide for 6 months. Next year we hope to have a baby. I am concerned this will affect our visa. Also Does anyone know about medical costs for pregnancy in Australia. We might have to wait to get Permanent residency. Is there anyone else in this situation or have already gone through this? Any information would be great as it is difficult to find any on the Australian Immigration website
Thanks

  1. You haven’t said where you are from.

Australia has reciprocal health care agreements with United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland, Norway, the Netherlands, Malta, Italy, Ireland and New Zealand. But this only covers ‘medically necessary’ treatment.

Otherwise, the costs are equivalent to any other civilized country.

  2. Hi,
I am sure you need to spend little more than PR holders,as they have the medicare cards and if you dont have it,it may really cost you too much,.

But one thing which I know well is , as we apply for Permanent residency, and you are still waiting for your residency, eventhough you can apply for your medicare cards now, and everyone who applies for permanent residency will get the temporary medicare card, which you can save money exactly like PR holders,.
and you need to go to medicare branch in your suburb with your passports and proof of lodging your application for residency is enough to get medicare cards within 2weeks of time.
I hope the pregnency costs you about 2000$….
I hope my answer helps you in some way,
    Thankyou
